After a few days of swearing, blocking the door closed with everything under the sun, and seriously threatening to take the door completely off its hinges (and then run over it with my 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck 3-4 times for good measure), the end result is that I am opening and closing the door using the deadbolt.
I don’t blame myself though since every one of those damn screws were either too long, too short, or too big.
I taped cardboard over the holes where the doorknob was so that the cold air wouldn’t get in. It’s a crappy solution but it’s also temporary, and that solution decreased the level of “bad” language and frustration immensely.
